There turns out to be a deeper reason for taking the trip at this time, to this place, and we get a look into Charles' past, probably the biggest so far in the series. I've always thought Briggs must have a soft spot for horses, mainly when I've read her older fantasy now it's front and center, as Charles and Anna travel to a friend's ranch in Arizona to get a horse for Anna. Good thing Anna is there, with Briggs' wonderful reinterpretation of what an Omega wolf is all about. So when a new werewolf is made in this book, we all know the stakes are high. ![]() The werewolves' way of life is so ingrained at this point, any reader can see potential dangers and character conflicts. I love the world Briggs has constructed over the years with her two overlapping series. Reading this made me want to go back and re-read the Alpha and Omega novella for the millionth time. Patricia Briggs juggles about five different plots with this Alpha and Omega installment and does so gracefully, never letting the interest or action lag. ![]()
